Timberwolf 'Íkaros' Preview
Last Thursday (19th October), Figaro was extended a cheeky invitation to come and see Timberwolf perform his upcoming album ‘Íkaros’ for the first time in a small intimate setting. If you were smart enough to tune into the live-stream Timberwolf graciously made available, you’d see just how intimate the show was (I mean, look at that sunset), with Timberwolf speaking to the crowd about the album, about all the different types of love, Greek mythology, giving your heart to someone else and, of all things, a waving seal that caused an injury. Timberwolf’s approach to the performance included three different types of guitars and his immense talent to strum a guitar and, despite extensive vocal cord surgery, belt out passionate and genuinely emotional lyrics and melodies with the vigour and fervour they demand. The performance was a powerful demonstration of everything that’s expected to show on his upcoming album Íkaros, an intoxicatingly beautiful piece of art which has continuously been building traction with regular radio time for the records flagship single and album titled track, the anticipation is well-founded, the album delivers.
Three vocal surgeries is tough no doubt, but a fair price to pay for the result of a talent like Timberwolf. Timberwolf’s voice is like the light to a cigarette, the electrical performance he gave us last week just shows that this album is the result of dedication, torment and persistence. I won’t say too much, I want you to witness this album in all it’s glory for itself. Thankfully, you only have to wait till this weekend on the 28th for Íkaros to drop.
