On the tail end of a hectic touring schedule we managed to find some time to exchange some words with the busiest woman in Australia and our favourite disco-Mum CC on her latest imprint, CC:EDITIONS a collaborative label with Kalita Records.

The first release off the label comes in the form of a Nana Tuffour reissue. Two tracks come from the Ghanian’s 1993 ‘Genesis’ record and the other two, ‘Asamando’ and ‘Jesus’ were released only on CD.

Congratulations on the imprint! How'd the reissue with Nana Tuffour come about?

Thank you!!! So about two years ago i played the tune "jesus" at Strawberry Fields and I ended tracking Nana down to send him a video of  it being played to A LOT of people in the Australian bush and thank him for making the music and he ended up asking me to call him. So... I called him, we spoke for ages and kept in touch and after a few chats we thought lets get his music back out there and I now I have a label ahaaha.

It's a project with Kalita Records, is this a partnership that's been in the works for a while?

This was a great mistake tbh, Chris had been keen and on doing some records and he licensed one of the tracks I didn't' have which is a winner 'M'anu Me Ho' and we chatted and decided lets put it together and really get it out there.

We're assuming there'll be further pressings on CC:EDITIONS, is the label going to focus on reissues or can we expect new releases too?

Sure is.. just in process of licensing the next one but its looking good. There will be remixes , edits and re-issues a coming and who knows maybe even some original stuff too . Every release will be very different so who knows what you'll get next :)

You have your First Light compilation, will that remain your Aussie homegrowns and CC:EDITIONS will treat us to International wax?

Yeah at this stage won't give too much away but First Light is original music for sure and this one will feature what ever comes my way but leaning towards more international stuff for sure

Pre-orders are available at Kalita, Rush Hour and Juno.

Release day is October 26th.
